Rich Coleman, Solicitor General
A couple of weeks ago, Rich Coleman invited me to a barbecue out in his riding Langley way. Us kids used to ride out to Langley (Milner actually) to my uncle’s hard-scrabble farm in the back of his Model T pickup truck. Before seat belts were invented. Nowadays, it is mostly horse farms and split levels. The barbecue was on the horse farm of one of Rich’s neighbours.

Here are some pictures of Rich and his wife Michelle. A great couple. And a great Solicitor General. Former RCMP officer, and it shows.

Here’s what he has done for West Vancouver-Capilano, with encouragement from your MLA:
  • Cracked down on the out-of-control dump trucks threatening our property and our lives.
  • Made a major push into the PRIME police information network, so that crime data can be collected and disseminated across neighbouring jurisdictions on a real-time basis.
  • Done a good job of encouraging excellent performance by ICBC.
  • Managed a scandal-free gaming industry, with direct grants to charities on a widespread basis.
  • Has always been there to help Ralph Sultan.
Now, it’s not been all good news. The folks up at Edgmont Village will not soon forget the change to liquor outlet regulation which - in the absence of municipal zoning to the contrary - permitted a liquor store to move to a place where it was not welcome. But that is the exception.

So raise a glass to Rich and Michelle - but not if you plan to get behind the wheel of your car. Rich doesn’t allow it.
