A United Boat Cruise |
||
| In todays times, churches must deploy maximum ingenuity to finance themselves. One avenue that is often very successful is the charity auction. Your MLA discovered himself at the intersection of a United Church lobster dinner held at the Squamish Nation recreation centre, Larry Matricks church fundraising goals, and a boat cruise on Howe Sound.
Ralph was pleased to offer his trawler Carefree for such a cruise earlier this year. Between lobster courses, bidding was spirited. Successful bidders for his services compiled a boating party consisting of (see picture) Gary and Marilyn Sutherland, Gerry and Linda Humphries, and Barry and Michelle Reimer, and hostess Helen MacDonald.. When the day came for the winning bidders to cruise, the threatening clouds disappeared , and a pleasant journey to Gambier Island followed. We cruised past the splendid waterfront homes of Whytecliff, tied up at a dock on Gambier, wandered a nascent real estate development, enjoyed a light lunch and fine wine, dodged ferries at Horseshoe Bay, and tied up at Eagle Harbour after a pleasant half day on the water. What an enjoyable way to raise money for a splendid cause! [top] |
