November 11, Year of Afghan
Remembrance Day ceremonies in front of the West Vancouver memorial arch were marked by participation in the march past of red-beret Captain Gillian Worsfold, now of Esquimalt, recently of Afghanistan.

Also notable was the smartly drilled presence of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, in their traditional uniforms and caps.

The officer leading the march past is Lt.(NL) Stephen Lemarec. The female officer on the right of the column is Midshipman (NL) Nicki Hughes and on the left, neatly bisected Midshipman (NL) Pierre Trepanier. The cadets marching are a detachment of Navy cadets from the Navy League Corps Honourable Clarence Wallace (1)
.
Branch 60 of the Canadian Legion did its usual superb job of organizing an event which grows and grows each year. After the parade, some repaired to the Library for tea and cookies, others to the basement pub of Branch 60 for ale and war stories. I confess to being found in the latter crowd.
