NORTH VANCOUVER RECEIVES ARTS FUNDING TO SUPPORT THE ARTS

NORTH VANCOUVER – The community of North Vancouver has received almost $40,000 from the BC Art Council, announced Liberal Ralph Sultan.

In North Vancouver, the Motion Picture Production Industry is receiving $30,000, the Centennial Theatre $5,000 and the local artists Linda Choi will receive $2,400 and Alida Megan Nadain will receive $2,000 from the BC Arts Council.

“I’m delighted to see Linda and Alida receive this support to help them both succeed as they pursue their artistic endeavors,” said Sultan.

BC Arts Council grants were awarded to a variety of arts and culture organizations as well as to individual artists to help strengthen and expand a wide range of artistic disciplines in B.C. including music, visual arts, literature, theatre and dance.

The British Columbia Arts Council is the Province’s primary agency for supporting arts and culture programs in B.C. In the 2005/2006 budget the annual funding to the B.C. Arts Council was increased by $3 million to $13.95 million.

To date over $144 million has been provided through BC Arts Council grants to arts and cultural organizations and individual artists in British Columbia.
