Comment on Recent Proposals for a Regionally Integrated Police Force for West Vancouver

We must always be open to exploring ways to improve policing, including the regional police force concept advanced recently by West Vancouver’s new Chief Constable, Kash Heed. Policing in this province is, of course, principally a municipal responsibility. However, due to the recent state of gang-related violence, the provincial government also must consider the alternatives.

And a Merry Christmas to You All!

My granddaughters Mei Mei and Justine, arrived at my home just in time to help me do some gift wrapping for Christmas. Here they keep warm in front of the fireplace while outside a blizzard whips snow past the windows horizontally. I have not seen weather like this since I lived in Montreal. In the morning, Mei Mei and Justine built a very large snowman in my front yard.

Helping Pay for the Police: The 2007 Traffic Fine Revenue Sharing Program

What happens to all those fines collected by the RCMP and the West Vancouver Police Department for speeding on Highway 1? I’m glad you asked. These dollars go to the Province. Until quite recently , it went into general revenue; however, the Traffic Fine Revenue Sharing (TFRS) Program has changed all of that.
